People say that one should not doubt the wonders of nature and this bizarre incident which shows a rat with a plant growing out of its back is one such situation that makes everyone wonder how is it even possible. Experts have also been shocked to see the incident but speculated that a soya bean seed could have landed in an open wood and germinated there.
Farmer Datar Singh from Madhya Pradesh, India, was the one to discover the rat with the plant. He recalled that earlier this year he had planted a soya bean crop on his farm. He was checking on his crop on August 7 when he came across the rat. People were surprised to see this wonder as they had never witnessed anything like this before.
All his neighbors gathered around the rat to have a look at the plant that was growing from its back. However, many sympathized with the animals claiming that it would have been "immense pain" to have a sapling grow inside it. As reported by LADbible, many people tried to understand how it could have been possible. Some even tried to lift the rat by its tail in order to inspect what had happened to it.
In the video and pictures that have since been shared on social media, it can be seen that the plant appears to be growing out of a wound coated in matted, black blood. There is no doubt that the rat is in pain because it is evident that he is finding it hard to move from one place to another.
He is spotted looking around without moving but eventually collapses. It is clear that the rat would not have been able to live long if it hadn't been discovered before. Shockingly, looking from the size of the sampling, one can understand that it had been growing for a long time because its length appears to be longer than that of the rat. Datar took the rat back to his house and removed the sapling.
This ruled the idea that it could have been a prank played by any of the teenage boys living around. Professor A Siddiqui, head of the department of biology at a nearby college said that the rat was lucky not to have died because of the plant growing on its back as he believed it had the ability to cause damage to its brain. "It's a miracle. Though the plant had grown in the region near the neck, there was no brain damage," he said.
It is quite impressive to see how long the rat was able to live with the sampling growing on its back. However, many people believe that it is a hoax.
"Rats are mostly nocturnal which wouldn't give the plant enough sunlight to complete its photosynthesis cycle," wrote one, while another added, "I think that someone found/caught a rat that may or may not have already been sick or otherwise incapacitated and someone impaled it with a soybean shoot. The initial discoverer may have been the culprit, or the rat may have been left for the unsuspecting farmer to stumble upon."
